What does it take to lead a development team that keeps essential software running in customers’ hands every day? For Laurentiu Alin Olteanu, now Development Team Lead for the Mobile Team at ABS Laundry Business Solutions, the answer has been built over sixteen years of curiosity, steady growth, and a willingness to take on new challenges. Today he guides the Mobile Team, supports developers, and keeps Android applications stable and reliable for the people who depend on them. Here is a closer look at the journey, the role, and the person behind the screens.
Laurentiu joined ABS sixteen years ago, following a recommendation from Cătălin, a former colleague from Politehnica University, who passed his CV to Tatiana (HR Manager). As a lighthearted twist, the door could have opened two years earlier, but Tatiana chose two other candidates at the time. Those two colleagues went on to become very good friends, so the story found a happy ending either way. His path inside the company moved from Junior QA to Java Developer, then into the Mobile Team as a Full Stack Developer, and eventually into his current leadership position. What keeps him engaged is the chance to keep learning, take on fresh challenges, and work alongside talented people.
As Development Team Lead and Scrum Master for the Mobile Team, Laurentiu coordinates the team’s activities, supports developers, and keeps projects moving forward smoothly. The role involves prioritising work, removing blockers, and making sure development tasks are properly tracked and delivered on time. When Android application issues reach dedicated customer teams, he helps identify root causes and resolve problems efficiently, ensuring that the software stays dependable in daily operations.
A significant part of the role lives in conversation. Laurentiu works closely with Product Managers, customer teams, and other development teams through sprint ceremonies, planning sessions, and regular discussions. Many topics, from potential bugs to missing requirements and new development approaches, are handled through ASD tickets outside of the usual sprint rhythm, allowing quick responses to customer needs and shifting business priorities. Clear communication keeps priorities aligned and issues moving toward resolution.
Laurentiu sees modern tools and technologies as a way to lift productivity, automate repetitive tasks, surface issues earlier, and deliver higher quality software. His broad experience across different roles gives him a strong grasp of both the technical and business sides of the products, which helps him bridge communication between developers, Product Managers, customer teams, and customers. By supporting feature development, resolving defects, and keeping requirements clear, he reduces risk and strengthens overall quality.
Laurentiu expects software development at ABS to lean increasingly toward automation, cloud technologies, and AI powered solutions. In his view, AI will help teams build, test, and support software more efficiently, freeing developers to spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time solving complex business problems. Maintaining quality, performance, and consistency across a growing set of applications will remain the central challenge, met through strong collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the thoughtful adoption of new tools.
For Laurentiu, the greatest motivation comes from seeing the positive effect the team’s work has on customers and knowing that the software supports their daily operations. Helping the team grow and succeed matters just as much. Each resolved issue, each improvement to the Android applications, and each clear conversation with a customer adds to that impact. Over sixteen years and several roles, his blend of technical depth and people focused leadership has quietly reinforced the reliability of ABS Laundry Business Solutions, proving that the people guiding the work are as important as the software itself.
