From Intern to Interface Architect
Boyan’s story at ABS began during his graduation project in 2017, when he was tasked with developing a design document for the web version of ABSSolute, which has since evolved into Infinity. That internship turned into a permanent role, and Boyan has held the position of UI/UX Designer ever since. What keeps him motivated is the freedom ABS gives him to experiment, try new approaches, and truly shape how the product looks and feels.
Designing at the Intersection of People and Technology
As UI/UX Designer, Boyan acts as the bridge between the technical capabilities of Infinity and the professionals who use it daily. His work involves translating complex requirements from product owners, business analysts, and developers into functional, intuitive designs. By working across disciplines and mapping the needs of every stakeholder, he ensures that what gets built actually works for the people it is built for.
Collaboration Across Teams
Using tools like Figma, Boyan can rapidly build interactive prototypes and test ideas with developers and customers in real time. His task is to take the complex, moving parts of laundry logistics and turn them into a clear and accessible experience. Methodologies that prioritise iteration and direct user input help him stay responsive to changing needs and emerging possibilities within the platform.
Tools, Methods, and Staying Ahead
Boyan describes the culture at ABS as collaborative, pragmatic, and meaningful. Working with colleagues across countries and backgrounds creates an environment focused on shared goals, accountability, and continuous improvement. This culture supports both personal development and the delivery of reliable solutions that serve essential industries.
A Culture Built on Open Thinking
Boyan describes the culture within the Product Management Department as open and egalitarian. Ideas are discussed freely, different perspectives are welcomed, and the broad knowledge base of the team enables solutions that a single viewpoint could never produce. This environment supports both creativity and quality, giving designers room to explore while staying focused on outcomes that matter.
Looking Ahead
As Infinity continues to grow, Boyan sees the role of UI/UX Designer shifting from designing individual screens to creating intelligent, accessible workflows. With automation and mobile logistics on the rise, the challenge will be building interfaces that serve equally well on a small touchscreen on the laundry floor as on a full desktop dashboard for an executive. The solution, as he sees it, is staying in close contact with customers and letting their real needs drive design decisions.
Designing for People Who Rely on It
What motivates Boyan most is knowing that the people using ABSSolute Infinity depend on it to do their jobs every day. Getting to know those users and understanding their needs gives purpose to every design decision. By making powerful tools genuinely easy to use, he contributes to the efficiency, confidence, and success of laundry professionals worldwide, one intuitive screen at a time.
